This is how we deal with corrupt or defective drives.
This 500 GB Samsung SSD is corrupt beyond repair.
Another local computer repair shop attempted to install this obviously second-hand drive in a client’s computer. It was not recognized by that system or any other computer we have. I am destroying it to be certain this doesn’t happen again..
I started by cutting the drive roughly in half,
which revealed the circuit board only occupies a little over half the housing.
So I sliced it through again, just to make sure no data could ever be recovered from it.
This seems highly unlikely, but I would rather spend a little more time and be certain.
