Back to the latest success story
A neighbor came to our office yesterday with a completely unreadable USB Flash Drive. ALL her data was on this drive.
Plugging it into any computer yielded the same message “Do you want to format this drive?”.
NEVER format one that gives you this message if you ever want your data again.
So this morning I connected this drive to one of my recovery workstations and analyzed the structure.
Fortunately I was able to recover all the data, which now resides on a nice new USB Flash Drive.
Lessons from this experience:
- Always have multiple copies of all important data.
- A cloud backup is highly recommended.
- Keep data on your hard drive and back up to USB. Not the other way around.
- Always right-click on your Flash Drive and EJECT it prior to removal.
- Always discharge Any static electricity from your body to something grounded before removing a flash drive. Static electricity you can’t even feel will permanently destroy a flash drive.
